Peaceful Pine Trees

In which we venture beyond the bounds of Oslo; a river winds north and we briefly return to nature.

Norway somehow manages to live up to the stereotypes of Scandinavia. The lush, pine-tree-encrusted landscapes, the unnaturally vivid autumn colours of the foliage that lines glistening rivers and idyllic wooden cabins. A forty minute walk out of the heart of Oslo leads you past cascading waterfalls, old mills and finally to a hill overlooking a majestic lake surrounded by golden forest.

There's a particular kind of peaceful stillness as you stand among the watchful evergreens and gaze across motionless water, shielding your face from the dry, icy air. The world of people and things fades away and you are left with the purity of nature.
